What is a shorthair dog breed that can be raised friendly to chickens?
Posted on 28. Nov, 2009 by admin.
I currently have a boxer and a dachshund. Depsite being raised around chickens, they are both aggressive towards them, so they can’t be out at the same time.
What is a shorthaired dog breed that if trained properly, will be friendly towards chickens?
I had a German sheperd but they require frequent grooming.

What I mean by that is what characteristics and features do you have to look for in each dog in order to tell what breed they are? For example how do you tell the difference from say a doberman pincher, and say a rottweiler terrier, or any of the dog breeds that there are? Also where did they get their names from such as boxer, pitbull, doberman pincher, and so forth and so forth? Thanks for your answers in advanced.

I’m researching to get a dog. I’d like a small to medium size breed that can handle 10 hours at home alone without destroying anything. It’s gotta be good with kids as well. If anybody has any recommendations, post your answer.
Thanks!

I am looking for a small breed dog as a companion for my 7 year old daughter, who loves animals. We do not live in a large property, but are committed to walking the dog daily. Ideally, we want a dog that is good with kids, intelligent, trainable, loving and doesn’t yap and has no inherant health problems associated with the breed. Any ideas?
All suggestions welcome !

I am highly considering a English Springer Spaniel. Any thoughts?

My husband and I are looking to get a dog in the near future and both of agreed that we want a large dog. We want a breed that is playful, friendly, smart, easily trained and really, really big. We have the yard for a big dog, we have no children at the moment and I am a stay at home wife, so I have the time to train a puppy. All we need is to find a breed we like. Any information is helpful and links to websites with pictures is also appreciated. Thanks a lot.
Kate C, I did mean giant breeds. Thanks.

I work regular hours M-F. My daughter comes home around 3:30 so the dog would be by itself during that time. I like to run, be outside and go to the dog park. I would love to have a dog I could take everywhere. I want a dog to do those things with but also that will lay around at home too and not be all hyper all the time. Also, I dont want a dog that sheds a lot. I would love to have the dog inside and eventually, after training, have the run of the house all day. My thoughts on the breed are maybe labs, dobemarn, any bird dog types or maybe a mut from the pound??? Any suggestions?
